WFED 270 - Introduction to Industrial Training

PREREQUISITES: 

CITF Instructor Certification Level II or be listed as a Training Director or Training Coordinator

WFED 270 and WFED 471 must be completed in numerical sequence. 

3 Day, Plus, Distance Learning Lessons Course 

Overview of training profession. Introduction to economic and psychological foundations. Examinations of relationship of industrial training to education. WF ED 270 does not include any exams, as students are better assessed through actual application of the concepts and procedures. As a result of successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Define key terms relevant to Workplace Learning and Performance (WLP)
  • Understand where WLP is today
  • Describe the historical roots of WLP
  • Identify the seven major roles of a WLP professional
  • Describe the ASTD study of WLP and competencies for each of the seven major roles of WLP professionals
  • Identify the competencies that the student has in each of the seven roles presented
  • Define terminology related to career development
  • Identify and describe the seven-step process of career planning in WLP
  • Prepare an individual career plan for themselves
  • Explain the difference between values and ethics
  • Identify ethical issues affecting WLP work
  • Identify the trends predicted to impact WLP in the future
  • Identify the trends that may have an impact on their job and organization in the future

This workshop also contains a series of distance learning lessons that must be completed to receive credit for the workshop. Upon completion of this course, you will receive 3 credits from Penn State University. These credits can be applied to a bachelors degree in vocational education. This course is part of the UBC Instructor Certification program.
