The UBC/FlowServe Qualified Pump Repair Technician Level 2 Train-the-Trainer, 40-hour course is a new workshop being offered as a follow-on to the Pump Repair Technician Level 1 Train-the-Trainer.  The course is relevant to millwrights with some field experience who desire a better understanding of centrifugal pumps.  Shop projects include determination of a centrifugal pump performance curve using operating equipment, pump inspection and overhaul procedures, proper setting of a pump impeller, and mechanical seal installation.  Proper safety measures are emphasized throughout the workshop.  The characteristics of ANSI and API pumps are shown and the factors that affect pump performance are discussed.  Techniques for recognizing the causes of pump failure are presented.  The features of multi-stage pumps, those with more than one impeller, are introduced.
