This course prepares UBC
representatives and instructors to lead BOSS (Brotherhood Outreach for Strength
and Support) sessions within their own locals and training centers.
Participants will learn how to facilitate open, peer-to-peer conversations
about mental health and suicide prevention using the Notice, Check-in, Connect
framework — and walk away ready to run group discussions with confidence, not a
script.
Topics include recognizing warning signs in crew members, leading real conversations without judgment, handling sensitive disclosures, and connecting members to the right resources when it matters most. No clinical background is required — just a willingness to compassionately and ethically look out for your brothers and sisters in the industry.
Upon completion, participants will be qualified to deliver BOSS training sessions to their local members.
