Classes that do not meet the Minimum Attendance Requirements 45 days in advance will be cancelled.
This course is designed to equip instructors with
effective, easy-to-apply strategies for teaching students whose first language
is not English. Participants will learn how to use instructional resources,
visual aids, simplified language techniques, and classroom best practices to
improve comprehension, safety awareness, and skill retention for ESL learners.
The course focuses on practical methods instructors can immediately implement in classroom, shop, and job-site training environments. Topics include adapting lesson materials, using visuals and demonstrations, reinforcing key vocabulary, checking for understanding, and creating an inclusive learning environment without slowing instruction for other students by using the Timekettle X1 translator and utilizing other technologies to translate the curriculum.
By the end of the course, instructors will be better prepared to deliver clear, effective instruction to diverse learners while maintaining training standards and safety requirements.
