Silica Awareness Train The Trainer

The minimum participants for this course is: 8

This 1-day workshop covers where and how respirable crystalline silica exposure occurs, how it affects the body, how workers can protect themselves, and what employers must do to protect their workers. This workshop meets the training requirements of 1926.1153 Respirable Crystalline Silica standard.

 

At the end of this workshop, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify where silica is commonly found.
  2. Identify construction activities that could create hazardous levels of silica dust.
  3. Describe the health hazards of respirable crystalline silica (RCS).
  4. Explain the requirements and methods used for controlling silica dust.
  5. Explain employer requirements including training, competent person, exposure control plan, and medical surveillance program.
